Walking and Hiking at Sycamore
Sycamore Mineral Springs is proud to offer ALL resort guests an opportunity to join our hiking guides for a healthy, educational hike to explore the many wonders of our hills, valleys and beaches. There is NO-CHARGE for hotel guests. Fees vary for non-guests.
Guided hikes are offered throughout the week. Join one of our friendly hiking guides for an in-depth look at the Central Coast flora, wildlife and some area history. We would be delighted to share with you our spectacular vistas and an afternoon, evening or sunrise of healthful camaraderie. Inquire at check-in for further details. Look for postings of trail descriptions and hike times at our message center in the Lobby near the Front Desk. Check-in for hikes at the Gift Shop.

Guided Hikes
Nature Lovers Hike Stroll up the hillside and experience nature. Learn to identify the native plants and some of their uses. Reach the Sycamore Summit and enjoy views of Port San Luis and the Central Coast. Moderate 2 hours.
Coastal Adventure Spend an afternoon enjoying the coast. Reach the ridgeline for breathtaking views, then follow it down to the beach. Difficult 4 hours.
Owl Call Night Walk Learn about the owls of the area while enjoying a star filled sky. Bring the family and possibly catch a glance of these masterful predators of the night. Easy 1 hour.
Ripirian Habitat Walk Stroll along San Luis Creek and learn about the flora and fauna that live in the lush environment of the Avila Valley. Easy 1 hour.
Sunrise Hike Wake and start your day off with this invigorating hike to the top of the summit for spectacular coastal views. Learn about the flora and fauna along the way. Moderate to Difficult 2 hours.
The Sycamore Crest Trail (4.2 Miles ) offers a beautiful display of the Central Coast’s most honored features: endemic plants, colorful wildflowers, and of course, the Pacific Coastline. The hiker will explore shaded sections of scrub oaks and manzanita on the short, steep route to a summit overlooking spectacular views of Avila Bay and Port San Luis. Next, meander along the ridge enjoying southern vistas and the smell of California coastal sage and finish the hike at a historical landmark known as Cave’s Landing.
Bob Jones Trail (3 miles) This easy multi-use trail is both peaceful and enjoyable. Originating in Downtown San Luis Obispo along the city streets, it becomes a dedicated trail at Ontario Road and passes alongside our property. The dedicated trail is 3 miles in length. From Sycamore, the paved walkway winds along San Luis Creek and offers glimpses of Herons, Jays and many other species of birds as well as rabbits, squirrels and lizards.
